Sometimes Simple is Better...

We all rush from place to place trying to keep up with everything, but sometimes, we need to stop and smell the roses as it were.  We trotted off to Avoncroft Museum not so long ago which is a truly fabulous and interesting place (and not stuffy at all!). 

They have a huge collection of telephone boxes (including a Tardis phone box).  The act of calling one another on these ancient phones was brilliant!

I decided on a simple eye-catching design because I love the way the colour of the flowers pop against the brown.

 There is something in the sky which I haven't seen for ages - I think it might be SUN! WOO HOO!!

I took these photos the last time the sun made an appearance - which feels like ages ago.  I used the stunning Winter's Song flowers from Manor House Creations new collection. The papers are all from Echo Park's Sweet Day collection.

The Winter's Song flower is soft, opaque fabric with glittered texture and beautiful stamens - truly stunning!

Boy Mad!

Not literally, well only for my DS who turned 12 last month. He has gone from a tiny baby to being as tall as me in the blink of an eye. He may be tough on the outside, but he is still my little boy!

He can still goof around with the best of them when we're out and sometimes he'll even pose for the camera!  

I thought I would challenge myself to the gorgeous flowers from Manor House Creations  in a grunge/male way.  The Majestic-Gemma flowers already have a blue tinge to them so I could use them straight from the pack.

I made my own barbed wire from garden wire as I love the idea very industrial items mixed with flowers.

A denim ribbon finishes off one my the flags perfectly!

 You may know that I like whimsical every now and then. I got the idea of making a hot air balloon using a papier mache balloon.

After making  the papier mache balloon (I cut lots of strips of newspaper and glued them to a balloon in layers), I initially covered the balloon with hundreds of punched hearts from patterned paper.  It sat unloved for months because I didn't like it.  Eventually, I recovered the base with dictionary pages.

Now with a plain base, I could add my patterned papers and gorgeous flowers.  Firstly I created bunting to go around the balloon. Then added flower clusters along the way.

I added tiny flags and bunting (The Scrapcake: My Private Happiness)

Can you guess what the base is made from?  I  used an old baked bean tin which I covered in paper and put an oasis in the bottom ready for the flowers.

I used skewers to support the balloon on the base so it's nice and sturdy.

Almost Time...

In the meantime I thought I'd share a project I did for Easter.

I took a basic basket and added a handle and a little lace.  I raised the base so that the egg and flowers above the edge.

I covered the papier mache egg with tiny punched hearts (I know, I need to get out more).  The Sprinkles flowers are just gorgeous.  The colours will make any project POP!

The beautiful Enchanted flower really is a show stopper!

Spring Celebrations

For those of you who are tenacious and have stuck around this ghost town - well done!  I know I'm pants at blogging lately but I seem to chase my own tail for most of my time.

Anyway, I thought I'd share a project that I did for Manor House Creations last month to celebrate the start of spring (although we're suffering from the wettest drought ever!)

My photos are a little challenged but bear with me.  The flowers are simply stunning!

The cake boxes are covered in a collection from The Scrap Cake - One Moment in Time by Agnieszka Anna Niedźwiecka.

I used a delicious mixture of stunning flowers from the current collections over at MHC.

I love the blousy powder pink Meringue that you can see above.  It's great for adding impace to a project.

The brightly coloured flowers you can see in this picture are Sprinkles, Party Lights which have the most stunning centres.  These flowers are just brilliant for filling in collecting together for real impact.

Escape

I went on a little break last month with some scrappy friends. We stayed at Toad Hall in Shropshire which was absolutely idyllic. For me, it was the perfect retreat. Good company, good food and doing you're own thing.

I used the Sweet Nothings collection from Kaisercraft for this layout.  I adore the colours and pretty images.

The stunning flowers are of course Manor House Creations.

I altered my flowers slightly as part of a challenge.  I inked the edges to give them a vintage look as well as over-stamping with a script stamp.

Flowers Galore!

Another late, late post. I could do with about 4 more hours a day and I'd be sorted!

I'm going to share the lovely flowers from Manor House Creations.

I have used the absolutely gorgeous Sweet Nothings collection from Kaisercraft (Merly Impressions).

I love the cherub imagery so I got this little cherub to 'sit' on some of the beautiful flowers.

I'm not normally a fan of purple, but these little anemones are gorgeous.

I used some of the die-cuts from the collectables.
