Having Your Cake and Eat It

My lovely friend Amanda of Bonne Fete runs a most original wedding business.  She offers the lovely bride to be something a little different for their wedding day.  She has gone to a wedding fair today and had asked me to make her a vintage wedding cake for her table.  Oh joy!  I can't tell you how excited I was.

Amanda  had envisioned the cake in a bird cage which will ultimately go onto another cake stand.

Amanda wanted very vintage music papers with the whole piece being a neutral colour and not too overboard with bling.

She found these wonderful initial letters to top off the cake - quite a brilliant change from the bride and groom.

I have covered tin boxes for the base - not as easy as it sounds since tins tend to have lumps where the lid would go or curve at the ends.

Unfortunately you can't see the light spray of champagne mist over the leaves.

The odd little butterfly flutters around the cake for an extra delicate touch.  Just a shame I can't make real cakes like this.

Thanks for popping in.  I can't wait to share my next project with you.  It is equally exciting (in my opinion) and something very different from this one.  I'll leave you with a sneaky peak.
